Hans Frans (1994) is a self-taught artist based in Haarlem. He paints and is a musician and composer involved in various ongoing projects including his solo work under the name “Hans Frans” and collaborative efforts like “Gene Gene” and “Songchoo Club”.
While working as a carpenter, Hans began painting on leftover wood in his studio, which ultimately led to a solo exhibition at “kunstlijn Haarlem” in November 2023. Inspired by the success of the exhibition, he decided to transition to full-time painting. He transformed his workspace while retaining the woodworking tools and materials to experiment with, blending his woodworking expertise with his artistic expression.
Both his visual and auditory creations are deeply rooted in a profound sense of place—a convergence of emotions, thoughts, and dreams intricately tied to specific environments. The quaint charm of an old fishing village on the Catalan coast, in Alt Empordà, serves as inspiration for much of his work.
Hans’ paintings offer viewers an intimate window into his subjective reality, where dream-like narratives unfold. Each canvas serves as a portal to his imaginative realm, inviting exploration and contemplation.
