Hans Frans Mulleners (b. 1994) is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist based in Haarlem, the Netherlands. With a background in woodworking, his practice spans painting, sculpture, and sound, grounded in a tactile relationship with reclaimed materials and a strong sensitivity to place, memory, and transformation.

Hans began painting on leftover wood in his carpentry studio—a spontaneous and intuitive process that eventually led to his first solo exhibition, OtoƱo, during Kunstlijn Haarlem in 2023. The success of the show marked a turning point, prompting him to transition to full-time art-making and reimagine his studio as a space where craftsmanship and artistic experimentation intersect.

Both his visual and auditory creations are deeply rooted in a profound sense of place—a convergence of emotions, thoughts, and dreams intricately tied to specific environments. The quaint charm of an old fishing village on the Catalan coast, in Alt EmpordĆ , serves as inspiration for much of his work.

Working primarily with found materials, Hans’ paintings offer viewers an intimate window into his subjective reality, where dream-like narratives unfold. Each canvas serves as a portal to his imaginative realm, inviting exploration and contemplation.

In parallel with his visual practice, Hans composes and produces music under the name ā€œHans Frans,ā€ and collaborates on projects such as Gene Gene and Songchoo Club.
